Chinese Restaurant Awards announces Vancouver’s 20 Best
The Fish Man wins big; other spots recognized in new dining guide include Dynasty Seafood Restaurant, Landmark Hotpot, and Mott 32
THE CHINESE RESTAURANT AWARDS today announced winners of Vancouver’s 20 Best. A total of 21 judges with expertise in Chinese and Taiwanese cuisines weighed in to come up with winners that form the event’s new namesake dining guide.
“Since its inception, Chinese Restaurant Awards’ ‘signature dish’ concept has helped diners discover the best dishes,” Chinese Restaurant Awards’ judging panel chair Lee Man said in a release. “With Vancouver’s 20 Best new award format, we have invited a diverse group of judges to vote for their favourite establishments in the given categories and recommend Signature Dishes from there. This list of recommended dishes will provide diners with an easy-to-follow guide to explore the best from each winning restaurant.”
As the winner of Restaurant of the Year and Best Sichuan Cuisine, The Fish Man proved to be this year’s culinary powerhouse. With a focus on seafood, it has become the busiest restaurant on Richmond's “food street” (Alexandra Road).
The Rising Star Chef of the Year special award, presented by Canola Eat Well, went to The Fish Man’s Li Bo. With nearly 20 years’ experience in the restaurant industry, Bo has an in-depth knowledge of Canadian seafood and combines different cuisine styles, such as Japanese and Cantonese, into his vision of Sichuan seafood dishes.
