The 46th annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival takes place at Jericho Beach Park from July 14 to 16

AN OUTDOOR SUMMER STAPLE in the city, this year’s Vancouver Folk Music Festival is home to more than just good tunes. Guests can browse an impressive variety of food stalls, an Artisan Market, and a Beer Garden on-site.

The fest is expected to draw more than 38,000 people over 3 days, and Pete’s Eats—the bustling main food area at the northeast corner of the site—is a global buffet offering up 30 delectable food and drink options for hungry guests, including items that are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, sugar-free, Kosher, Halal, and nut-free for those with dietary restrictions.

For a full meal, check out Shameless Buns—hailed as a standout eatery when they opened up shop in 2019—for Filipino chicken adobo, beef tapas, and cheese steak; or stop by Marie’s Guilt Free Bakery for a Jamaican patty combo with a salad and baked treats. Other vendors are serving up Polish pierogies and sausages, chicken teriyaki, smoked salmon crêpes, beef tacos, fish and chips, lamb donair, and the list goes on.

There are also tons of classic festival snacks available; think sweet and salty kettle corn from Gary’s Kettle Corn, and tornado potatoes at The Original Hurricane Potato. Wash it all down with a freshly squeezed lemonade or slushy drink from Juicy Green Express.

Over at the artisan market, guests can take a break from dancing to browse an array of vendor stalls. Shop handmade fashion at the female-owned and -operated Black Swan Clothing, mythology-inspired jewellery designed at Primordial Gems, and wellness products made from traditional Indigenous ingredients at Sister Sage.

Much more is on-site to experience, from temporary henna tattoos at Mehndi Designs, to a Community Village with fun, informative stalls from the likes of BC Parks Foundation, the Vancouver Co-operative Radio, and Recycle BC.

Keep a lookout for mobile snack and beverage carts roaming the site, offering portable goods to keep those hunger pangs at bay.

Plus, enjoy a cold craft beer, local cider, or glass of B.C. wine in the Beer Garden located near Stage 4. And with all that's going on, you may need to power yourself through the day by heading to Aperitivo Coffee, Green Coast Coffee, or Mukasi Coffee.
