Alliance Française Vancouver is hosting Ballet BC Annex, the junior ensemble of Canada’s leading contemporary dance company Ballet BC, on October 30 at 7:30 pm.
Composed of young high-level dancers, Ballet BC Annex presents innovative works across the province while supporting the development of emerging artists. This season’s repertoire includes world premieres from Cameron sinkʷə Fraser-Monroe and Michael Garcia, as well as Last Flower by Out Innerspace.
Fraser-Monroe is a choreographer, director, and member of the Tla’amin First Nation. He is currently artist-in-residence at the National Theatre School of Canada. Texas-born choreographer Garcia, a graduate of The Juilliard School, is in his fourth season as a Ballet BC company artist.
Out Innerspace was founded by B.C.–born artists Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond in 2007. The dance company has an international touring history spanning over 15 countries, and also runs the education program Modus Operandi.
