Alliance Française Vancouver is hosting MA, a concert by santour player Amir Amiri and tar player Elham Menouchehri, on March 14 at 7:30 pm.
Project MA carries profound layers of meaning, blending the Zen concept of “ma”, the space between things, with the Farsi word ma, meaning us in English. This piece highlights the delicate balance of sound and silence, and of presence and absence, as Menouchehri and Amiri intertwine their instruments in a musical dialogue.
In MA, the space between notes—much like the space between people—holds meaning, fostering a sense of connection that transcends individual expression. The music is not just a performance, but a meditation on unity that represents the shared creative journey of Menouchehri and Amiri. Together, they create a realm where Persian tradition and contemporary expression converge, celebrating the power of unity and the beauty found in silence.
Tickets are available through Alliance Française Vancouver.
