Nicola Wealth presents Illuminate Gala & Auction on April 23 at 6 pm at Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

 

IT’S THE LARGEST annual fundraiser for the Audain Art Museum: Illuminate Gala & Auction is back in person this year on April 23. 

The museum is situated on the shared, unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and Lil̓wat7úl (Lil’wat) Nation in Whistler. Its permanent collection focuses on B.C. art from the late-18th century to the present. 

Among the pieces up for biding is James Hart’s Shaman, 2016, bronze sculpture, edition 3 of 3. Measuring 121.2 x 51.9 x 37.3 cm, the work donated and signed by the artist has a value of $150,000. A hereditary chief of the Eagle Clan of the Haida Nation, Hart won the 2021 Audain Prize for Visual Art.

Online viewing of the live and silent auction items begins March 27, with online bidding opening on April 17. The live auction of major works is conducted by Heffel Fine Art Auction House.

Hosted by Fred Lee and Gloria Macarenko, the gala features a cocktail reception, dinner, live entertainment, after party, and more, with Fairmont Chateau Whistler offering  a discounted rate for gala attendees.
