Polish countertenor and fast-rising star Jakub Józef Orliński makes Canadian recital debut in Vancouver, March 20

The renowned singer is also a breakdancer, model, and acrobat

Vancouver Recital Society presents Jakub Józef Orliński, countertenor, and Michał Biel, piano, on March 20 at 3 pm at the Vancouver Playhouse

 

HE’S A JUILLIARD grad, Fulbright Scholarship recipient, and fast-rising star whose concerts everywhere from Paris to Madrid to London to New York sell out: Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński also won the prestigious Opus Klassik Award for Best Solo Vocal Recording for his debut album Anima Sacra on the Warner/Erato label, has been profiled in The New Yorker and Polish Vogue

His live performance of Vivaldi’s Vedrò con mio diletto, filmed at the 2017 Aix-en-Provence Festival, has amassed more than four million online views; and TV appearances, such as the Concert de Paris at the Eiffel Tower with Orchestre National de France, have been broadcast around the globe to millions. He also happens to be an avid breakdancer (placing in Red Bull competitions), model, and acrobat who has appeared in campaigns for Levi’s, Nike, Mercedes-Benz, and MAC Cosmetics, to name a few. 

And he’s making his Canadian recital debut right here in Vancouver, via Vancouver Recital Society.

Orliński will perform a program of Purcell, Handel, Karłowicz, and more. He will be accompanied by Polish pianist Michał Biel, a regular collaborator who also studied at Juilliard, where he maintains a residency in the vocal arts department.
