A New Resilience, Are We Still Together?, and Timeless Pastimes run at PoMoArts in person and online till February 15.

 

POMOARTS HAS A trio of new exhibitions now running online and in person until February 15.

In A New Resilience, Sonya Iwasiuk looks at the global issue of people fleeing troubled homelands in search of of peace and prosperity. The artist’s multi-media installation is based on the first wave of Ukrainian immigrants to Canada. (Work pictured at top.)

Ghislain Brown-Kossi is a French-born artist based in Vancouver who explores how people interact with one another in Are We Still Together? The works address disconnection and aims to foster dialogue. Brown-Kossi gives a Facebook Live artist talk and tour on January 21 at 7:15 pm.

In Timeless Pastimes, Mat Holstrom exhibits imagery and objects that reflect ways people develop bonds through nature, sports, wildlife, and other activities. Holstrom sees these pastimes as the glue to Canadian culture, things that help keep people hopeful, inspired, and unified through difficult times. A virtual artist talk and tour takes place January 28 at 7:15 pm via Facebook live.

A not-for-profit community arts education facility and contemporary gallery, the Port Moody Art Centre is situated in the historic Old City Hall and Centennial Appleyard House, both registered heritage buildings dating to 1913 and 1910 respectively. For more information, visit PoMoArts.
