Alliance Française Vancouver is partnering with the Vancouver Writers Fest to host French authors Camille de Peretti and Marie NDiaye for a literary gathering. This event takes place in French only on October 22 at 7 pm.
During the event, the authors will present their novels—most notably de Peretti’s L’Inconnue du portrait and NDiaye’s Le Bon Denis—to the audience. The evening will feature a conversation with each novelist, followed by a discussion between the two about family, identity, and more unifying themes across their works. Magali Blanc, who is a French lecturer at UBC, will moderate the event.
De Peretti and NDiaye have both established themselves as major voices of contemporary literature in France and beyond. L’Inconnue du portrait traces the intergenerational destiny of a painting inspired by Gustav Klimt, while Le bon Denis delivers an intimate story of a father figure’s origins, drawing on NDiaye’s own family history.
