Early Music Vancouver is presenting an unparalleled insight into the transformative power of Monteverdi’s music, as Les Arts Florissants lands in Vancouver. The France-based vocal ensemble will share The Magic of Monteverdi at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on November 17 at 7:30 pm.
Audience members are invited to join Baroque masters William Christie and Paul Agnew, directors of Les Arts Florissants, as they offer up Monteverdi’s finest madrigals for mixed voices. The pair have known, studied, performed, and recorded the lauded Italian composer’s music for almost 50 years. This revelatory program includes a performance of the iconic Il Combattimento (The Combat of Tancred and Clorinda).
Christie will lead the continuo from the harpsichord, while tenor Agnew will lead and sing in the vocal ensemble, joined by five more singers who are rising stars from the next generation.
Tickets and additional details are available through Early Music Vancouver.
