THE BLUESHORE FINANCIAL CENTRE for the Performing Arts at Capilano University has just revealed all the concerts it has in store this fall.

Kicking off the programming is quadruple-Juno-nominated Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah Slean on October 3. She has opened for artists such as Bryan Ferry and Alanis Morissette, drawing on diverse inspirations that range from Leonard Bernstein to Bach.

On October 7, there’s the Martin Sexton Abbey Road Show, in which the American singer-songwriter performs his interpretation of the beloved Beatles album, complete with soulful vocals and deft fingerpicking. He’ll also perform a collection of his own originals drawn from his expansive discography, which is 10 albums strong.

Another classic album will be in the spotlight at the Kay Meek Centre on October 17 and 18 with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road Reimagined. Performers Steve Dawson, Lindi Ortega, Dawn Pemberton, Joel Plaskett, Pony Gold, Chuck Prophet, Shaun Verreault, Mercy Walker, and more will offer their takes on the Lucinda Williams record.

Chet Doxas w/ CapU Jazz Ensembles is in store on October 24; the Montreal-raised, New York–based saxophonist has been nominated for multiple Juno Awards and has released 14 albums. And on November 4, Gord Grdina’s Ru’ya will play offsite at Christ Church Cathedral. The Vancouver-based guitar and oud player’s group unites vocalist Ghalia Benali, violinist Eylem Basaldi, percussionist Hamin Honari, and drummer Christian Lillinger for a global sound.

John Boutté and Queer as Funk with Terminal City Brass Band will pick things back up at the BlueShore on November 24. Boutté is a New Orleans–based jazz singer who is known for his rich R&B and gospel sound; Queer as Funk, meanwhile, is a Vancouver-based band of 2SLGBTQIA+ funk revivalists. Together, they’ll be playing Motown, soul, and funk music.

Other offerings include Julian Taylor and Logan Staats—Songs and Stories on November 27; Chris Smither and the Motivators on December 3; and singer-songwriter Chris Pierce—who has toured extensively with Neil Young—on December 7.

Winter Morning Walks: musica intima & Triology will mark a change of seasons on December 12. The Vancouver-based vocal group and jazz band will perform their take on Maria Schneider’s song cycle “Winter Morning Walks”, arranged by Réjean Marois. Then, on December 18 and 19, Winter Harp will round out the 2025 offerings—expect a mix of classical and Celtic harps, along with other medieval instruments, rounded out with elements such as velvet gowns and flickering candles.

In the new year, there will be jazz and folk concerts by the Tord Gustavsen Trio, Newfoundland quartet Rum Ragged, U.K. singer-guitarist Martin Harley, and Ablaye Cissoko and Cyrille Brotto.

In the meantime, cross-cultural hockey musical R;Link will close out the BlueShore’s ongoing summer season; it’s onstage August 15 and 16.
