Music legend Daniel Lanois brings his Lanois Trio to Kay Meek Arts Centre July 13
Seven-time Grammy winner is back on the road after forming his latest project in a chapel on the outskirts of Berlin
Musician and producer Daniel Lanois.
HE’S CLOSE TO a household name thanks to the astonishing catalogue of records Daniel Lanois produced in the last few decades, with artists including Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, and U2, not to mention his body of work as Brian Eno’s collaborator.
His own music stretches back to 1989’s lovely album Acadie, with its hit single “Jolie Louise”. Now the seven-time Grammy winner is out on the road with his own Lanois Trio, which was founded recently by the 72-year-old Quebecois musician in a chapel on the outskirts of Berlin, joined by drummer-vocalist Jermaine Holmes and bassist-vocalist Jim Wilson. The Lanois Trio arrives at Kay Meek Arts Centre for one night only on July 13 at 7:30 pm. Tickets go on sale April 3.
Says Lanois in a media release: “The chapel acoustics were such that the vocals sounded beautiful, we chose to keep our instruments quiet and let the vocals fill the night. The original instrument, that being the voice, is alive and well in this trio configuration.”
