London’s Consone Quartet returns to Vancouver in an Early Music Vancouver presentation at Christ Church Cathedral on October 9 at 7:30 pm.
As the first period-instrument quartet to be selected as BBC New Generation Artists in 2022, the Consone Quartet is fast making a name for itself with a sensitive, historically informed approach to works of the Classical and early Romantic periods.
At the group’s upcoming concert, audience members will get a taste of Czerny’s stirring, dramatic writing for string quartet. The program also includes classic works by Haydn, the father of the string quartet; Beethoven, his brilliant student; and Mendelssohn, the Romantic heir to their tradition.
A pre-concert chat will take place from 6:45 pm to 7 pm hosted by Suzie LeBlanc, with the Consone Quartet’s violinists Agata Daraškaite and Magdalena Loth-Hill, violist Elitsa Bogdanova, and cellist George Ross.
