French-Senegalese singer-songwriter anaiis is making her Canadian debut at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on September 16 at 7:30 pm. With her gentle, powerful music, she explores transformation, connection, and the possibilities that emerge from embracing change with grace.

anaiis’s latest release, Devotion & The Black Divine, was named one of the top albums of the year by both BBC and Apple Music. Recorded live-to-tape in London, the work is deeply influenced by anaiis’s new experience as a mother, as she explores what it means to be unabashedly human. The album is a meditation on the natural world, inner selves, and recognizing people’s innate divinity.

Born in Toulouse and raised between Dakar, Dublin, and Oakland, anaiis brings a distinctly global perspective to her music. With each new release, she traces a lineage of diasporic collaboration and cross-cultural kinship.

Tickets to this Chan Centre EXP concert are available here.
