John Pizzarelli Trio honours Tony Bennett at CapU Centre, September 10

With songs from his latest album, the swing ambassador pays tribute to another great swinger

John Pizzarelli is a towering figure in jazz, celebrated for his masterful guitar work, relaxed vocal charm, and ability to bridge the gap between jazz, swing, and pop. He’ll be performing tunes from his acclaimed latest album, Dear Mr. Bennett, at Capilano University Centre for the Performing Arts (formerly BlueShore at CapU) on September 10 at 7:30 pm.

Audiences will enjoy timeless classics made famous by Tony Bennett—such as “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)”, “Firefly”, and “When in Rome”—all performed by Pizzarelli’s ace trio, including bassist Mike Karn and pianist Isaiah J. Thompson.

Often compared to Nat King Cole for his impeccable vocal style, Pizzarelli has been a special guest on recordings for such stars as Natalie Cole, Rickie Lee Jones, Rosemary Clooney, and of course, his father, Bucky Pizzarelli.
