Jewish Book Festival presents Special Prologue: Israeli Authors Connect Over the Ocean on January 19 at 1 pm at the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver
RUNNING FROM FEBRUARY 22 to 27, the 2025 Jewish Book Festival is hosting Special Prologue: Israeli Authors Connect Over the Ocean on January 19.
The event features renowned authors Maya Arad and Eshkol Nevo discussing their latest works.
Arad is the author of The Hebrew Teacher, translated by Jessica Cohen. Considered one of the best Israeli novelists of her generation, Arad has written 11 books of Hebrew fiction. For the past 20 years she has lived in California, where she is writer in residence at Stanford University’s Taube Center for Jewish Studies.
In The Hebrew Teacher, three Israeli women, each affected by immigration to the U.S., seek to overcome a crisis. The trio of novellas probe the demise of idealism and the generation gap that the heroines must confront.
Nevo’s latest book is Inside Information, translated by Sondra Silverston. The psychological thriller weaves three tumultuous and unconventional love stories together. Nevo (who will appear via Zoom) is one of Israel’s most successful living writers. The author of Homesick, Three Floors Up, and The Last Interview runs the country’s largest private creative writing school. ![]()
