Mary Walsh brings some of fans' favourite comedic characters back to Kay Meek Arts Centre, October 20
The former CODCO and This Hour Has 22 Minutes star will also serve up her own satirical takes on today’s politics
An Evening With Mary Walsh is at the Grosvenor Theatre at the Kay Meek Centre on October 20
AMONG HER MANY roles, Order of Canada-winning actor, comedian, writer and social activist Mary Walsh might be best-known as an ambush artist. More specifically, Canadians remember her most for This Hour Has 22 Minutes, when her Marg Delahunty, Warrior Princess, became famous for cornering politicians and submitting them to satirical interviews. She famously reprised of that role in 2011, when she launched an ambush interview of then-Toronto Mayor Rob Ford at his home.
Chances are good that Marg will be on hand this weekend when Walsh comes to the Kay Meek Arts Centre. She promises to perform some of her best comedic bits and most popular characters from Dancing With Rage, CODCO and This Hour Has 22 Minutes. And as ever, you can expect her to pull from today’s headlines for political satire.
The St. John’s septuagenarian, who got her start in the ‘80s on that beloved, career-launching CODCO sketch-comedy series, has been up to a lot in recent years. She’s written, produced, and appeared in movies like The Grand Seduction and Sweetland, and she’s become an author (Crying for the Moon). But she's always happy to take fans on a trip back into some of her best vintage parts—sword-swinging and all.
