Vancouver Chamber Choir and Early Music Vancouver performing Handel’s Messiah.
Vancouver Chamber Choir and Early Music Vancouver’s joint performance of Handel’s indomitable Messiah returns this year with two performances: December 12 at 7 pm at Fraserview Mennonite Church in Richmond, and December 13 at 7 pm at the Orpheum in Vancouver.
At times reflective, joyful, solemn, and mysterious, this monumental work speaks to audiences across all worlds, bringing a fundamental message of hope. The Vancouver Chamber Choir and Pacific Baroque Orchestra are accompanied by a stellar lineup of soloists, including soprano Myriam LeBlanc, alto Cecilia Duarte, tenor Jacob Perry, and bass Sumner Thompson. Alexander Weimann’s direction of this masterpiece is spellbinding.
The Messiah tradition is an acknowledgment that Handel created music that is as delightfully satisfying to sing as it is to hear. The eloquent 18th-century work embraces themes of comfort amid sorrow, mortality, hope, and the desire for peace.
Tickets to Handel’s Messiah are available through Early Music Vancouver.
