Vancouver Chamber Choir invites audience members on an exploration of music from early-Tudor England at St. Philip’s Anglican Church on November 21 at 7:30 pm.
The Eton Choirbook is a manuscript collection of English sacred music composed during the late 15th century for use at Eton College, a boys’ school in Berkshire that is still operational today. The book boasts some of the only remaining Latin liturgical music to survive the English Reformation.
Though nearly half of its original 224 leaves were lost, the Eton Choirbook in its current state includes era-defining works by several different composers, including John Browne, Walter Lambe, Richard Davy, Robert Wylkynson, and more. It consists primarily of devotional motets.
Join 10 of the singers from the Vancouver Chamber Choir, led by artistic director Kari Turunen, for an evening of these rarely performed masterpieces.
Tickets to Eton Choirbook are available through the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
Post sponsored by Vancouver Chamber Choir.
