The Vancouver Chamber Choir presents Neighbo(u)rs, the culminating concert of its 46th annual Conductors’ Symposium, at Pacific Spirit United Church on February 13 at 7:30 pm.
Coinciding with the Winter Olympics, the Conductors’ Symposium is a showcase of friendship and friendly competition across the 49th parallel. Audiences are invited to join the choir as it explores what it means to be good neighbo(u)rs.
The program sets pieces by Canadian and American composers side by side. Offerings include Amy Beach’s “Help us, O God”, Stuart Beatch’s “A Boy and a Boy”, Eric Whitacre’s “A Boy and a Girl”, and Healey Willan’s “Behold, the Tabernacle of God”.
The Conductor’s Symposium runs from February 8 to 13, with five participants—university, school, church, and community choir directors from around the world—receiving advanced training from the Vancouver Chamber Choir’s artistic director Kari Turunen.
Purchase tickets to Neighbo(u)rs through the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
