Stella Chen.
Violinist Stella Chen will join the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra at the Orpheum this fall for Saint-Saëns’ Third Violin Concerto. Performances will take place on October 10 at 7 pm as part of the Musically Speaking series, and October 12 at 2 pm as part of the RGF Integrated Wealth Management Symphony Sundays series.
Named Young Artist of the Year at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards in 2023, Chen has dazzled audiences worldwide and will now make her Vancouver debut with Saint-Saëns’ mesmerizing Violin Concerto No. 3. Conductor David Danzmayr, music director of the Oregon Symphony, will bring his dynamic energy to Schubert’s enigmatic Symphony No. 8, dubbed the “Unfinished Symphony”.
Johann Strauss II’s Tik-Tak-Polka will also make an appearance on the program. And the evening will culminate in pure splendor with Richard Strauss’ shimmering suite from his sophisticated Viennese comedy, Der Rosenkavalier.
