Vetta Chamber Music launches its 40th anniversary season with Beginnings at various venues from September 26 to 29. This season is themed “Evolution” in celebration of how the organization has grown over the last four decades.
In the beginning was Vetta’s founding string quartet. This program honours those early years with Dark Energy, a Canadian gem by contemporary composer Kelly-Marie Murphy, alongside two powerful classics that have shaped Vetta’s journey, Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 8 in E minor, Op. 59, No. 2; and Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8 in C minor, Op. 110.
Performances take place at West Point Grey United Church on September 26 at 2 pm, West Vancouver United Church on September 27 at 7:30 pm, Pyatt Hall on September 28 at 2 pm, and ArtSpring on Salt Spring Island on September 29 at 2:30 pm.
