Neworld Theatre and The Unbound Reading Series present Black Futures Open Mic at the Progress Lab, on February 26 at 1 pm

 

VPL WRITER-IN-RESIDENCE and Invisible Boy author Harrison Mooney will host the Black Futures Open Mic, a literary and community event that celebrates Black creative writers.

Presented by Neworld Theatre and The Unbound Reading Series, the event will feature a reading by Mooney, followed by an opportunity for Black creatives to showcase their works during the open mic section. Attendees will have the chance to win a giveaway, purchase curated books by Black authors, and enjoy treats from Riseup Marketplace. 

The Black Futures Open Mic aims to provide a platform for emerging and established writers to share their work and connect with fellow creatives.

Mooney is a journalist and the best-selling author of the memoir Invisible Boy. The open mic is presented in association with Room Magazine, Wildfires Bookshop, and Riseup Marketplace
