Carousel Theatre for Young People hosts first annual Family Forward Festival, February 14 to 16
Offerings range from storytelling event The Family Flame to dance parties, documentary screenings, drag performances, and more

Carousel Theatre for Young People presents the first-ever Family Forward Festival on Granville Island throughout the Family Day long weekend, February 14 to 16. Families of all kinds are invited to the celebration filled with storytelling, drag performances, dance, and music.
Storytime with Peach Cobblah & Rose Butch kicks off the Family Forward Festival at Carousel Theatre with inclusive books and sing-alongs. Club Carousel: Baby Rave, an epic kid-centric dance party, takes place at the same venue.
Over at Performance Works, events include a concert by Nigerian Canadian contemporary-soul artist Buwa, a staged reading of Meghan Gardiner’s play The Gift Exchange, Deborah Williams’s storytelling event The Family Flame, and a double bill of drag documentaries Becoming Ruby and Drag Is For Everyone. The festival closes with the CTYP Community Celebration, a dance party featuring live music by DJ Softieshan.
