Chor Leoni invites audiences to reflect on the sacrifices of the past, conflicts of the present, and hope for peace at The Soul Flies Away, its 35th annual Remembrance Day concerts.
Voices will reverberate through St. Andrew’s–Wesley United Church during performances on November 11 at 2 pm and 5 pm.
This year’s program features the world premiere of “The Soul Flies Away” by Montreal-based composer and singer Seán Dagher, as well as a new arrangement of “Warm Summer Sun” by Toronto’s Katharine Petkovski. Back by popular demand is Don Macdonald’s composition High Flight, a soaring tribute to a Canadian airman’s journey into the sky and beyond, which made its world premiere during the choir’s 2023 Remembrance Day concerts.
Conducted by artistic director Erick Lichte, Choir Leoni will be joined by pianist Tina Chang, trumpeter Katherine Evans, organist Michael Dirk, and cellist Jonathan Lo.
