FRESH PAINT, A juried exhibition of paintings by the Fraser Valley Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists, is now on at Surrey Art Gallery
The local chapter has than 90 members from Chilliwack to Surrey/White Rock and from Mission to Coquitlam. Artists were invited to produce paintings that explore the idea of “fresh” through new techniques, new subject matter, new and creative points of view, the use of new and exciting colours, or subject matter that hints at new growth and renewal. Each artist interpreted the idea in their own way.
“This exhibition presents visitors with a rich array of colour and bold mark-making,” Surrey Art Gallery assistant curator Rhys Edwards says in a release. “These skilled artists will tempt you into their luscious imaginings of nature through deft brushwork and skillful compositions.”
The Federation of Canadian Artists was founded in 1941 to advance the knowledge and appreciation of art and culture for all Canadians through education, exhibition, and communication in the visual arts. It also supports and promotes emerging to professional member artists.
Admission is free. The gallery’s fall opening reception on September 17 is open to the public. More information is at Surrey Art Gallery.
