Gateway Theatre hosts Secret Ingredients, an experimental theatre performance created by Richmond-based artist Keely Rois O’Brien, from October 14 to 17 in Studio B.

Secret Ingredients uses cake to explore the quirks, nuances, joy, and heartache of human relationships. Leading up to the performance, the public is invited to consider messages that they find too difficult to express directly to someone in their life, and submit them via an online form. One of these submissions will be made into a beautiful, subversive cake, and incorporated into the show.

Flavours are paired with the message—the dark chocolate of embarrassment, the citrus zest of annoyance, the tart cherry jam of grief—and cake is served to the audience as part of the work (though eating it is optional). With limited seating of 50 guests per performance, Secret Ingredients provides an intimate look into the details of other people’s lives.

Tickets are now sold out. Join a waitlist to see the show through Gateway Theatre.
