Known for her lilting melodies and deeply felt lyrics about love, Le Ren delivers a coming-of-age collection in debut album Leftovers
Le Ren.
Kay Meek Arts Centre presents Canadian folk singer Le Ren on April 3 and 4 at 7:30 pm in the McEwen Theatre.
Le Ren’s music has a familiarity about it, even for those who have never heard it before. Her crystal-clear vocals hit in a way that feels both nostalgic and timeless, with clear evidence of musical influences like Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Joni Mitchell.
Lauren Spear, the artist behind Le Ren, studied bluegrass as a teenager on Bowen Island before moving to Montreal as an adult, where she expanded her artistry into contemporary folk, rock, and country. In her debut album Leftovers, Le Ren delivers a coming-of-age collection that gathers past experiences and reflects on their present meaning. With organic yet meticulous folk production and deeply felt lyrics, the release tells timeless stories of love, heartache, celebration, and lessons hard-learned.
