The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts presents Canadian singer-songwriter, composer, and musician Sarah Slean with the four-piece Black Dog String Quartet on October 4 at 7:30 pm.
Slean’s music borrows aspects of cabaret, pop, and orchestral, all knit together by the startling poetry of her lyrics, unique arranging, and piano-playing. With more than 25 years of experience to her name, she cites such diverse influences as Leonard Bernstein, philosophy, Joni Mitchell, Buddhism, and Bach.
Slean has released 11 recordings in over 10 countries worldwide, and has toured Canada, Europe, the U.S., and Scandinavia. She has opened internationally for such artists as Chris Isaak, Alanis Morissette, and Rufus Wainwright.
This modern-day Renaissance woman is also a poet, visual artist, and actor. She has been nominated for four Juno Awards and two Gemini awards, and is a Canadian Screen Award–winning composer.
