The Firehall Arts Centre presents the world premiere of Canadian Psycho this spring from March 31 to April 12.

What came first—the psychological crime thriller or the crime itself? While Hollywood congratulates itself on “diversity”, the juiciest, darkest, most complex roles still seem reserved for white men. That’s because they’re based on the world’s most infamous people: American serial killers. And as a half-Asian woman named Marlene decides in this provocative solo show, there’s only one way to change that lack of inclusion.

Produced by Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre and ITSAZOO Productions, this satirical work blends original electronic music, dynamic movement, and striking video design. It is simultaneously a takedown of the model minority myth and an unhinged interrogation of who gets to be seen, centred, and mythologized.

Canadian Psycho is written and performed by Marlene Ginader and directed by Jenna Rodgers.

Tickets and more details are available through the Firehall Arts Centre.
