Guy Davis brings musical storytelling to the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, October 10
Skilled on guitar, banjo, harmonica, and didgeridoo, the musician infuses his songs with emotional depth
Guy Davis.
The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts welcomes American blues musician Guy Davis for a cabaret lounge-style show on October 10 at 7:30 pm.
Davis’s lyrics are evidence of his background in theatre, with real storytelling that is sometimes painful and always deep. His songs are meant to create thought—an earthy contrast to modern-day commercial music—underlined by gentle tones from his guitar or banjo finger-picking.
The musician is equally at ease with a six- or 12-string guitar, five-string banjo, harmonica, and even the didgeridoo. His work has seen him perform alongside Pete Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, Dr John, and Taj Mahal; and he has opened for Chuck Berry, Joan Armatrading, and BB King.
Davis’s shows feature a mixture of his own original material alongside covers of classic works by such luminaries as Muddy Water, Howlin’ Wolf, and Bob Dylan.
A bar is available from 7 pm onwards. See the Shadbolt Centre for tickets.
Post sponsored by Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
