Théâtre la Seizième grows a green thumb in Le Potager, February 4 and 5

Quebec’s Le Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke brings its kid-friendly French show to Vancouver

Théâtre la Seizième presents Le Potager on February 4 at 2 pm and February 5 at 10am at Studio 16 (Maison de la Francophonie)

A MIX OF theatrical performance, concert, and immersive video, Le Potager brings a garden to life. The show in French by Quebec’s Le Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke is for arts lovers aged two to seven, or from preschool to Grade 1, with family programming running all weekend at Theatre La Seizième.

A singer, a guitarist, and a drummer take root inside a greenhouse at centre-stage, their rock songs geared to get little feet dancing as the four walls light up with videos and colourful paintings. Soon, leaves are quivering, worms are squirming, and hands are sowing seeds and watering soil. The beauty and simplicity of nature unfold in the sensorial experience created and directed by Karine Sauvé and Érika Tremblay-Roy and performed by Simon Bergeron, Fred Giguère, and Guillaume Gilbert.

Workshops for children take place before and after the shows on February 4 and 5, organized by le Centre Culturel francophone de Vancouver in collaboration with Muriel Marc. The show is part of La Seizième’s new programming for the little ones, made possible through the B.C. Francophone Affairs Program.
