Vancouver Chamber Choir invites audience members to get cozy with True North, led by artistic director Kari Turunen, at St. Philip’s Anglican Church on October 24 at 7:30 pm.
After a magical week touring Northern Canada, the choir is returning home to Vancouver with a spellbinding program that celebrates the northern lights, northern nature, and all those who inhabit the world’s northernmost climates. The program for the evening will include Nico Muhly’s Rough Notes, R. Murray Schafer’s Snowforms, and Veljo Tormis’s Autumn Landscapes. It will also feature the work of Stuart Beatch, the choir’s 2025-26 composer-in-residence.
Beatch, who is based in Edmonton, has previously held composer-in-residence positions with that city’s Chronos Vocal Ensemble and The Fourth Choir in London, U.K. He is an associate composer with the Canadian Music Centre and a member of the Canadian League of Composers.
Tickets to True North are available through the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
