The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Beethoven’s Eroica, a program highlighting a symphony widely regarded as the greatest of all time, from February 20 to 22.
Revolutionary in its day, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, “Eroica”, pulses with the composer’s signature emotional power and sense of drama. Han-Na Chang will conduct this groundbreaking work that announced the dawn of the Romantic movement and changed music forever. Henry Shapard, principal cello of the VSO, will then team up with the orchestra for Prokofiev’s spirited and uplifting Sinfonia Concertante.
Performances will take place at the Orpheum on February 20 as part of the Musically Speaking series and February 22 as part of RGF Integrated Wealth Management Symphony Sundays, and at Centennial Theatre on February 21 as part of the PARC Retirement Living North Shore Classics series.
A free prelude concert with the VSO School of Music’s Azalea Chinese Music Ensemble will take place on February 22.
