Triology and musica intima perform Maria Schneider’s Winter Morning Walks at BlueShore at CapU, December 12
Choral music melds with jazz in achingly beautiful, triple Grammy–winning song cycle
Vocal ensemble musica intima.
Experience the warmth of vocal ensemble musica intima combined with the sophistication of jazz ensemble Triology as the two groups perform Maria Schneider’s Winter Morning Walks. They’ll bring the phenomenal, triple Grammy–winning choral jazz cycle to life on December 12 at 7:30 pm at BlueShore at CapU.
With poems by Pulitzer Prize–winner Ted Kooser and musical arrangements by B.C.’s own vocal-jazz legend Réjean Marois, Winter Morning Walks is flowing and intimately expressive. Much of the lyrics concern the soul-nourishing experience of being outdoors in different seasons and times of day; the foremost jazz composer Schneider succeeds at translating the stillness and, at times, intensity of the natural world into lyrical compositions of understated grandeur. Listeners will hear elements of Copland, Sondheim, Barber, and Ives—though the sound is distinctively Schneider.
Triology consists of bassist Jodi Proznick, pianist Miles Black, guitarist Bill Coon, and drummer Mili Hong.
Tickets are available through BlueShore at CapU.
