Internationally acclaimed soprano Amanda Forsythe will sing the music of Handel in a Christ Church Cathedral concert on September 27 at 7:30 pm. This exceptional show produced by Early Music Vancouver also features the Pacific Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Alexander Weimann.
The program includes Handel arias originally written for French soprano Élisabeth Duparc, nicknamed “La Francesina”, Handel’s preferred prima donna. To this celebration of the symbiosis between composer and performer, Handel and Duparc, Métis composer T. Patrick Carrabré adds a timely new collaboration with the visionary research of Canadian forest ecologist Suzanne Simard, based on her novel Finding The Mother Tree. Since moving to B.C. from Manitoba, Carrabré has drawn inspiration from the forests here, which led him to Simard’s novel.
A pre-concert chat with Weimann and Carrabré will take place at 7 pm, hosted by Denise Ball.
Tickets and more details are available through Early Music Vancouver.
