In a presentation by Plastic Orchid Factory, Compagnie de la Citadelle’s Half an Hour of Our Time comes to Left of Main on April 17 and 18 at 7 pm.
Choreographed by former National Ballet of Canada artistic director James Kudelka, Half an Hour of Our Time was influenced by Jean Cocteau and Francis Poulenc’s one-act opera La voix humaine. Performed in silence, this 30-minute duet is dense with incident as everything that bound the couple unravels before audiences.
The duet was originally commissioned by Moonhorse Dance Theatre in 2008 and performed by Claudia Moore and Dan Wild. This revival, dedicated to the memory of Wild (1965-2020), will star dancers Zhenya Cerneacov and Laurence Lemieux.
Kudelka is among today’s most versatile and innovative dance artists. He has choreographed for both leading ballet companies and smaller contemporary troupes.
