The Barber of Seville
Burnaby Lyric Opera’s Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) is coming to the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts this February.
The Barber of Seville has stood the test of time as one of the top operas ever performed. This brightest star in Gioachino Rossini’s repertoire is a comic masterpiece filled with romance, deception, mistaken identities—and glorious music as only the famed Italian composer himself could write.
Count Almaviva is in love with the young and beautiful Rosina; Rosina is in love with the poor student Lindoro; Rosina’s guardian Dr. Bartolo wants to marry her for her inheritance and has imprisoned her in his house; and town barber Figaro is helping Count Almaviva in his romantic quest, while cleverly manipulating all the players.
Stage director Tayte Mitchell and music director Angus Kellett are at the helm of this production at the Shadbolt.
Tickets and more details are available here.
Post sponsored by Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
