The Dance Centre presents Forecasting, a mesmerizing work created by Barbara Matijević and Giuseppe Chico, on November 13 and 14 at 8 pm.
Forecasting takes viewers on a journey through the vast, intimate, and often absurd world of amateur YouTube videos. On a bare stage, a single performer and a laptop become a portal into thousands of ordinary lives—food lovers, fitness buffs, gardeners, pet owners, quiet walkers, secret confessors. As the screen shifts between mask and mirror, her voice weaves into the videos until the boundary between self and stream dissolves.
Matijević is the performer in Forecasting, while Chico is behind the show’s video design. Together, the co-creators reveal who people are when they think no one—and everyone—is watching.
Forecasting is produced by Kaaitheater (Brussels) and UOVO (Milan), and presented here as part of the Global Dance Connections series. A post-show artist talkback takes place on November 14.
Tickets are available through The Dance Centre.
Post sponsored by The Dance Centre.
