Vancouver Chopin Society hosts famed Russian pianist Mikhail Voskresensky, May 30
Now based in the U.S., artist brings more than 60 years of performance experience and award wins to the stage
Mikhail Voskresensky.
Famed Russian pianist Mikhail Voskresensky makes his Vancouver debut at downtown's Christ Church Cathedral on May 30 at 7:30 pm, presented by the Vancouver Chopin Society.
For more than 60 years, Voskresensky has enjoyed a highly successful and distinguished career as a performer and as chair of the piano faculty at the Moscow Conservatory. This all changed in June 2022, when he and his family immigrated to the United States from Russia in protest against the war in Ukraine.
Voskresensky has won awards at the Robert Schumann Competition, International Piano Festival of Rio de Janeiro, George Enescu Festival in Bucharest, and the very first Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. As a teacher, his pupils have won more than 120 international prizes, including 61 gold medals.
Since relocating to the United States, Voskresensky has been invited to be visiting professor at the Juilliard School, and has played successful recitals throughout the country, from New York to Texas.
