For Ancer, Soulfulness revolves around the concept of living with a deep sense of purpose, meaning, and connection, both within oneself and with the world around. It is about channeling emotional depth, truth, and genuine expression of one’s inner self. Inspired by the past, the artists of Soulfulness are encouraged by the possibilities of the future.
Flamenco Rosario was founded in 1989 by artistic director Rosario Ancer and musical director Victor Kolstee. Through hosting mainstage performances and an annual Professional Training Program, as well as producing the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival, Flamenco Rosario creates a platform for flamenco and its young dancers to flourish in Vancouver.

Flamenco Rosario toured its award-winning production Mis Hermanas to Mexico in 2010, for which Ancer was awarded the Scotiabank Dance Centre’s Isadora Award for excellence in choreography. In 2012, she was honoured with the Mayor’s Arts Award in Dance by the City of Vancouver, and in 2020, she was inducted into the Dance Collection Danse Hall of Fame.
Flamenco Rosario is known for its spirited, fiery, creative, and original performances and collaborations. The company continues to honour rich flamenco traditions while producing presentations that stretch the boundaries and evolution of the artform.
