Vancouver Opera’s 2025–26 season closes with one of opera’s most enduring love stories, Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème, at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre from April 25 to May 3.

At the heart of 1890s bohemian life in Paris, romance blossoms amid dreams, hardships, and the unyielding pursuit of artistic freedom. In a bustling community of artists, students, philosophers, and Quartier Latin café denizens, the deep connection between young poet Rodolfo and seamstress Mimì is tested by illness, poverty, and the bittersweet passage of time.

La Bohème has remained one of the most beloved and frequently performed operas worldwide since its 1896 premiere, due in large part to captivating pieces like “Quando m’en vo”, a.k.a. “Musetta’s Waltz”, and the moonlit duet “O soave fanciulla”.

For this production, Vancouver Opera music director emeritus Jonathan Darlington returns to conduct, while Pacific Opera Victoria artistic director Brenna Corner directs a stunning international cast.

Tickets are available through Vancouver Opera.
