This fall, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is gearing up to present Fauré’s Requiem. Concerts take place at the Orpheum on November 7 and 8 at 7:30 as part of the Assante Vancouver Centre Masterworks Diamond series, and at the Bell Performing Arts Centre on November 9 at 3:30 pm as part of the Surrey Sundays series.
Experience the sublime beauty of Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, lovingly written in memory of the French composer’s father. Two Canadian artists, soprano Sarah Dufresne and bass-baritone Daniel Okulitch, join forces with the Vancouver Chamber Choir to present this monumental choral work of eternal serenity.
Also on the program, maestro Otto Tausk leads the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in Johannes Brahms’s Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny) and Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto, dedicated by the composer to “the memory of an angel” and masterfully interpreted by Moscow-born violinist Maria Milstein.
