Western Gold Theatre presents a reading of The Stranger at PAL Studio Theatre from March 13 to 15

IN AGATHA CHRISTIE’S The Stranger (a play she adapted from her own short story “Philomel Cottage”), impulsive Enid tosses aside her boring fiancé and leaps into marriage with the mysterious and charming Gerald. Together, they leave busy London to move to a remote cottage where dark secrets emerge.

It’s a classic psychological thriller from the Queen of Mystery, and Western Gold Theatre has assembled a top-notch cast to present the play in a staged reading this weekend at PAL Studio Theatre.

Under the direction of Colleen Winton, Colleen Rae Lornie and Craig Erickson take on the roles of the central couple. Tanja Dixon-Warren, Ian Farthing, and Bronwen Smith round out a work that invites the audience to sleuth out the clues amid the red herrings.

You might even get a few chills in this rare early work by Christie—not to mention some lessons on getting to know the person you’re about to shack up with.
