The next edition of The Dance Centre’s popular and long-running Discover Dance! series celebrates the energy, comedy, drama, and sheer fun of Bollywood, with a performance by SHIAMAK Vancouver at the Scotiabank Dance Centre on February 27 at 12 pm.
Blending Bollywood with jazz, funk, folk, and modern influences, the company is known for delivering wildly entertaining performances that are guaranteed to get audiences on their feet. SHIAMAK Vancouver is part of the world’s biggest Bollywood dance academy, founded by Shiamak Davar. The company also offers Bollywood dance and workout classes at schools, dance studios, and recreation centres.
The Dance Centre has presented the Discover Dance! series since 2002, highlighting the diversity of B.C.’s dance scene in an informal, accessible format. Featured dance styles have included African, ballet, bhangra, Bollywood, Chinese, contemporary, flamenco, Highland, hip hop, Japanese, Métis, samba, tap, and more.
