Ahead of Pride Month, the Vancouver Chamber Choir is presenting Kaleidoscope, an evening of music by composers from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. The concert takes place at Pacific Spirit United Church on April 17 at 7:30 pm.

On the program is a world premiere by the choir’s composer-in-residence, Stuart Beatch. Based in Edmonton, Beatch studied composition at King’s College London and the University of Alberta, and music education at the University of Regina. He is an associate composer with the Canadian Music Centre and a member of the Canadian League of Composers.

Beatch’s new piece shares a bill with Benjamin Britten’s Hymn to St. Cecilia and Francis Poulenc’s Sept chansons, plus gems by Mari Esabel Valverde and Samuel Barber.

For this concert, the Vancouver Chamber Choir is sharing the stage with its Affiliate Choir, the Intertidal Choral Ensemble, led by artistic director Jaime Yoon.

Tickets and more details are available through the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
