In March 2009, a promising pianist named Daniil Trifonov performed a recital on the West Coast under the auspices of the Vancouver Chopin Society. He was little known then, but already local audiences marvelled at the young man’s incredible talent.

Since then, Trifonov has made a spectacular ascent in the classical-music world. In 2018, he won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Solo Album with his Liszt collection Transcendental. He now performs regularly to sold-out houses in the greatest musical capitals as concerto soloist, recitalist, and chamber pianist, as well as vocal collaborator and composer.

On April 19 at 3 pm, the Vancouver Chopin Society is presenting Trifonov in recital at the Orpheum. It has taken the organization over 10 years to secure a date with this very busy musician—and as such, this is a performance that is not to be missed.

Tickets and more details are available through the Vancouver Chopin Society.
