Chan Centre for Performing Arts presents An Operatic Affair: New Years on January 7 at 7 pm at the Old Auditorium

CASSIE CHANG IS a local soprano who recently made her debut at Lincoln Center: New York Public Library with An Operatic Affair. She’s now bringing the event to the Chan Centre’s Old Auditorium stage.

The intimate evening features opera arias and excerpts from iconic works such as  Puccini’s La Bohème and Verdi’s Otello.

Also on the bill are pieces from Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, Strauss’s Arabella, and Massenet’s Hérodiade.  Chang’s own “Vancouver Song” from her Internalized Globalization song cycle is on the program, with music by Pouria Kahdem and text by Chang.

Chang will also welcome up-and-coming Vancouver guest artists: pianist Indra Egan as well as tenor Jeremy Scinocca, mezzo-soprano Taryn Plater, and baritone Matthew Kim.

Chang was invited to the Canadian Opera Company’s Summer Intensive 2023 and has performed with UBC Opera and the Manhattan School of Music. She has her bachelor’s of music from UBC and her master’s from the Manhattan School of Music.

A reception with light refreshments follows the concert.
