Massey Theatre is presenting Ballet Jörgen’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a whimsical new ballet with a uniquely Canadian twist, on February 7, 2026 at 4 pm.
Ballet Jörgen’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream reimagines Shakespeare’s beloved comedy amid the enchanting landscapes of Northern Canada, celebrating the region’s beauty and spirit from the northern lights to the native fauna.
Set to Mendelssohn’s iconic score, this new and original production by Bengt Jörgen brings the timeless tale of love, mischief, and magical fairies into a world of boreal forests, tundra skies, and woodland creatures. The playful, family-friendly ballet captures the wonder of the wilderness and the timeless joy of Shakespeare’s story for audiences of all ages.
Ballet Jörgen’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream features costume and set design by Sue LePage, stage direction and synopsis by Heinar Piller, and lighting design by Madhu / மது.
