Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Celebrating Maestro Bramwell Tovey: His Life in Music on January 15 at 2 pm at the Orpheum and online

 

VANCOUVER SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA is presenting a special concert to celebrate the life, music, and legacy of beloved late maestro Bramwell Tovey.

Celebrating Maestro Bramwell Tovey: His Life in Music will be hosted by Bard on the Beach founding artistic director Christopher Gaze as well as conductors Tania Miller, Gordon Girard, and Rosemary Thomson.

Guest artists joining the musicians of the VSO are coloratura soprano Tracy Dahl and violinist James Ehnes.

The program features works by some of Tovey’s favourite composers, including Elgar  (Enigma Variations), Mahler(Symphony No. 5: Adagietto), Barber (Violin Concerto), Morlock (Nostalgia for String Orchestra), Strauss (Morgen No. 4), Beethoven (Symphony No. 7), Goddard (Vocalise for Soprano and Violin) andVaughan Williams (The Lark Ascending).

The concert will be livestreamed, available for viewing for a period of 72 hours starting at the time of the initial stream.
